Sadauri is young. She told us, I’ve had a hard life. I was running the streets”. She found herself pregnant. Sadauri knew that her lifestyle would be harmful for her baby. She told us how much she loves her baby, and how hard it was to place the baby for adoption.
She said, “I’d rather you have the best life ever than see you struggle with me… Plenty of nights I cried. It’s not easy giving up your child. I am not going to lie to you. You have to stay strong and understand that what you did is the right thing… what happens when you run out of diapers, or run out of food? You don’t want to be in that place.”
Life on the streets for pregnant women is brutal. So many women find themselves trapped in lifestyles they would never have chosen for themselves and don’t know how to get out of. And then, they discover that they are pregnant and believe they have no place to turn to and no choices. That’s where we come in. We are there to offer a positive path to get off the streets, get clean, healthy, and plan for a bright future with endless possibilities for success. Not to mention that we help these vulnerable women as they make the brave, selfless choice to place their baby into the safe, loving arms of a stable, nurturing family to grow up strong and happy.
Sadauri’s story is highlighted in this newsletter – she was running the streets, yet loves her unborn child. It’s why she chose adoption, even though she told us she has cried herself to sleep countless nights. A mother’s love is strong and fierce, and someday she knows that she and her baby will meet and share the bond of mother and child.
The number of homeless young women on the streets is on the rise, as is the number of drug overdoses and drug use. The COVID pandemic is actually fueling an increase in addictions as anxiety and depression levels rise. Addiction creates a trap, an endless cycle that unless broken has no good ending. It is absolutely why we have to reach these vulnerable women – they need a future and hope, and their unborn children need the opportunity for a life of love.
I invite you to join us in this race against the clock – to find these women and provide the life saving help they need for themselves and their unborn children. Please share this information with others, post it on your social media, and feel free to forward this newsletter to anyone and everyone that cares about making a difference. And thank you for caring. It means a great deal during the long days and nights that our team works tirelessly to bring light into the lives of women who are trapped in a dark place.

Saving and changing lives together, Kelly Rourke-Scarry, M.Ed. President/CEO Building Arizona Families
During the month of July, Building Arizona Families placed six newborn babies with wonderful adoptive families! These precious babies are being snuggled, cooed over, and nurtured, as parents rejoice that they hold an answer to their prayers in their arms. We are so grateful that courageous women made the sacrificial choice to give their babies the opportunity for life, love, and a bright future!
My life has been hard. There are so many girls like me out on the streets. My story can bring hope to other pregnant women out there. I hope you will watch it, and then share it with others.
BIRTH MOTHER MATTERS IN ADOPTION Gaining a New Perspective on Adoption and Abortion
Listen to the perspective of a biological sibling’s views on abortion. Discover how the perspective can change when education and personal experience come into play. The featured interview is with Kelly Rourke-Scarry’s biological brother. He shares his insights about how the perspective changes when the choices are personal.
Our Arizona adoption agency needs your help to deal with a real crisis. As temperatures skyrocket in the Phoenix metro area, tent cities are growing around shelters, in parks, parking lots, and abandoned buildings. The rising cost of living, scorching heat, and the pandemic that continues to impact our most vulnerable communities has created a serious crisis for vulnerable pregnant women. Some women feel trapped between the choice of abuse and homelessness. When a pregnant woman chooses homelessness, she risks an entirely new set of violent dangers.
In addition to the dangers of living on the streets, homeless pregnant women experience complications to their pregnancy at twice the rate of securely housed pregnant women. They are at higher risk for alcohol, opioid and non-opioid drug use disorders as well as anxiety and depressive disorders, miscarriages and complications during childbirth.
The baby is at greater risk for premature birth, low birth weight, being born addicted, respiratory illnesses, and longer hospital stays. According to the American Pediatric Association, these risks continue into childhood.
There is no doubt that heat, rising cost of living, the pandemic, and domestic violence all converging at the same time create a true crisis for vulnerable pregnant women. We simply must reach out to these desperate pregnant women and offer solutions. They need to have safe, stable housing, access to medical care, nutritious food, and counseling to assist them in moving forward in a positive way. They feel trapped, hopeless and helpless. They don’t know that our Arizona adoption agency can have them off the streets within hours. Each pregnant woman in crisis deserves to know that if they are unable to parent with their current circumstances, that adoption is a beautiful option. A healthy mom, a healthy baby, a family blessed with adoption, and a bright future for the birth mother is all possible with the help of Building Arizona Families and the Donna K. Evans Foundation.
This truly is a crisis. Can you step up for vulnerable pregnant women and their fragile unborn baby? Every dollar you contribute will help us reach a pregnant woman in crisis. On average, it costs us $127 to reach one pregnant woman, but please know that every dollar counts in meeting this urgent need. With homelessness and heat rising, the dangers increase for birth mom and baby. Your gift of any amount is tax deductible. Please forward the newsletter to friends and family who will join us reach these vulnerable pregnant women in crisis.
During the month of May, Building Arizona Families placed one newborn with a wonderful adoptive family. Our Arizona adoption agency has hundreds of families from around the U.S. waiting to adopt Arizona babies, and hundreds of pregnant women in crisis that don’t know we can help. It’s why we need your most generous gift to help us reach the growing number of pregnant, homeless women in our state.
At the age of 14, Cheyenne started selling crack on the street corners at 4am. She grew up in a family of addicts so life seemed normal. She was homeless, pregnant, and was an addicted child herself. The realities of her story are heartbreaking, but the good choices she has made in moving forward to a brighter future remind us of how important it is to reach out to the streets of Arizona and find the addicted, broken women who live there. Every mom and unborn baby on our streets need us to care, because they don’t believe anyone really does. Our Arizona adoption agency has helped hundreds of pregnant women in crisis over the years, and we need to help hundreds more.
Tina, an amazing birth mother chose adoption for her babies. She has open adoption with both adoptive families of her babies and feels very positive about her adoption choices. Tina discusses the reasons she choose adoption and why she felt then and feels now that she made the very best choice for her children. Listen. Learn. Love.

While many of us are rejoicing watching our home values rise, there is another side of the story that can determine whether a baby is given the chance to be born.
Rents in Phoenix are dramatically rising, forcing low income earners into homelessness. Homelessness in Maricopa County has increased by 25% every year for the past five years. Once someone becomes homeless, holding a job becomes nearly impossible, particularly if it is a mom with children.
A recent story on Channel 3/5 highlighted Rebecca Young, working two jobs with a son, living in her truck behind a Circle K. It still wasn’t enough to pay for rent, which is now averaging over $1000 for a basic one bedroom apartment. Rebecca has an apartment now, but knows she is one paycheck away from being on the streets again.
If Rebecca had found herself pregnant while homeless, caring for her son, and working two jobs, the risk for her unborn baby would have been very high.
You see, it’s not just addicted women or women with mental health issues who are pregnant and on the streets. It’s every day Arizonans trying to pay the bills who now sleep on the light rail, in a tent, or on a park bench. With the current housing crisis, and temperatures heating up in the Valley, it is more important than ever that Building Arizona Families is there to assist pregnant women, especially if they are homeless. Our shelters are overflowing and tent cities are growing. It’s why Building Arizona Families wants pregnant women in crisis to know that we just a phone call or text away. We can provide emergency housing, food, clothing, healthcare and transportation for these vulnerable women and children. 73% of the women who choose abortion cite the inability to financially care for a baby as their primary reason for aborting their child.
It’s hard to believe that a baby’s life or death can hang in the balance with a paycheck. You can’t put a price tag on a human life, and we have to do everything we can to give every baby we can the God given right to life. Can you help us prevent abortion and help at risk pregnant women move forward to a brighter future? $127.00 is all it takes. Or perhaps you will consider $127.00 as a recurring monthly gift, knowing that you are the reason unborn babies are given the gift of life?
If you can sponsor one vulnerable pregnant woman and protect her unborn child, you will truly be saving a baby’s life. It’s hard to put a price tag on the difference just $127.00 makes. And if that is too much, just know that every dollar counts in meeting this urgent need. With homelessness rising, the risks of abortion are rising. Please join us in saving innocent babies. And, remember that your gift of any amount is tax deductible. Please forward the newsletter to friends and family who will join us in protecting the lives of unborn babies.

She reached out to Building Arizona Families, who became the family she needed to get off the streets, kick her addiction, and deliver a healthy baby boy who is now being raised by a wonderful family. Her decision to place her son for adoption was the hardest choice she has ever made, but she is proud of her decision to give him the gift of life and a bright future. April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Last year in the United States almost 2,000 children died as a result of horrific abuse and almost THREE MILLION child protective services investigations and responses were needed. That is 2,000 murdered children too many, and three million abused children too many.
You are probably wondering what this tough topic has to do with adoption of newborns. My answer is… everything. Some of the risk factors that lead to child abuse include poverty, mental illness, alcohol and drug use, too young, were victims of abuse themselves, low education levels, and weak support systems.
Sound familiar? The at risk pregnant women we help usually have one or more of the above risk factors. Without intervention, babies born into these circumstances are at risk for abuse.
When an at risk pregnant woman can’t effectively parent, adoption is a wonderful option to give the baby a safe, loving home and the opportunity to thrive. We also offer post adoptive services so that these vulnerable women can receive the support they need to move forward into a productive and happy future, equipped with the skills they need to succeed.
In Arizona right now, there are over 14,000 children living in the child welfare system – meaning they experienced life threatening abuse and/or neglect. To solve child abuse, the root causes must be solved. I firmly believe that providing the beautiful option of adoption to risk pregnant women is one key way of preventing child abuse. Can you help us prevent child abuse and help at risk pregnant women move forward to a brighter future? $127.00 is all it takes. Or perhaps you will consider $127.00 as a recurring monthly gift, knowing that you are the reason we are serving a new pregnant woman in crisis, giving a baby a healthy, loving home, and blessing a family praying for a baby.
It’s time that we go upstream and address the causes of child abuse so that we can prevent it. Please join us in helping vulnerable pregnant women get the help they need and innocent children have the lives they deserve.
If you can sponsor one vulnerable pregnant woman and protect her unborn child, you will be helping to break the cycle of child abuse and despair. It’s hard to put a price tag on the difference just $127.00 makes. And if that is too much, just know that every dollar counts in meeting this urgent need. You saw the staggering number of children who are victims of life threatening child abuse in Arizona alone! Please do what you can, we have to stand up for these vulnerable children. And, remember that your gift of any amount is tax deductible. Please forward the newsletter to friends and family who will join us in protecting children and helping break negative cycles for vulnerable, desperate women.

MEET GINA
Gina was homeless. She found out about Building Arizona Families through a friend who had been helped by BAF. Gina knew she was not in a place physically or emotionally to be a parent or to provide for her baby. She also believes that her choice to place her baby for adoption was the most loving, selfless choice she could have made. In her interview, she shares about how Building Arizona Families gave her a place to live, food to eat, and even money for necessities when she needed it to ensure the well being of her unborn child.
Not every person who wants to be an adoptive parent will be qualified or eligible to adopt. The way eligibility is determined is through the adoption home study process. Every state has their own individual requirements to be eligible to adopt. In this podcast we are going to focus on the specifics of Adoption Home Studies In the state of Arizona. Adoption home studies are governed by the Arizona Revised Statutes. The State of Arizona requires that your home study social worker spend at least 4 hours with you face-to-face during a minimum of 2 visits. At least 2 of these hours must be spent in your home. Listen to the rest of the podcast to learn more.

Wow! Has March flown by! I hope you and yours are doing well. And as always, thank you for caring for vulnerable birth mothers, unborn babies, and adoptive families. Your compassion truly changes the world we live in.
In March we make St. Patrick’s Day jokes about the luck of the Irish, and we wear green so that we don’t get pinched by mischievous leprechauns… Images of rainbows and pots of gold, and even turning entire rivers green! We do love our fun traditions…. The story behind St. Patrick’s Day is really about St. Patrick, beloved by the Irish for the transformation he brought to their country. Many don’t know that he was actually British, and kidnapped by the Irish as a teenager. Six years later, he escaped back to Britain but love called him to return and serve his captors. Although British, St. Patrick was “adopted” by the Irish because he served and loved the Irish them faithfully.
You see, adoption isn’t about bloodlines, it is about love. The love of the birth mother to selflessly choose an unrelated family to raise her child. The love of the adoptive family to open their hearts and homes to a baby that they did not conceive. Babies are not adopted through luck, they are adopted through selfless love.
And just like St. Patrick, it takes loving and serving tirelessly to make adoptions happen. While the pandemic has been challenging on numerous levels, we have continued to plow ahead to locate pregnant women in crisis and share the loving message of adoption with desperate women.
There are thousands of visitors to our Arizona Pregnancy Help website every month, and hundreds of phone calls. We are available 24/7/365 to at risk pregnant women. Many are homeless, addicted, and despairing. Life has not been kind to them and they are desperate for safety, shelter, and stability. And without help, the babies of these homeless women are at higher risk of fetal death, birth defects, low birth rate, and being born addicted. There is an urgency to finding these at risk pregnant women and giving them the help they need to get better themselves and to better the outcomes for their unborn child.
The work is not easy but it is a labor of love because we believe in adoption. We really can’t do this alone – there are so many pregnant women in crisis. Can you help us meet the needs of one pregnant woman and her unborn child? $127.00 is all it takes. Or perhaps you will consider $127.00 as a recurring monthly gift, knowing that you are the reason we are serving a new pregnant woman in crisis every month.
Thank you for caring so much. Thank you for walking with us – you are truly joining us in the loving work of adoption.
Can you sponsor one woman in crisis and protect her unborn child? Two women? Perhaps you can commit to finding one pregnant woman in crisis every month. Wow… think of the lives changed by a monthly sponsorship! Remember that your gift of any amount is tax deductible. And, please forward the newsletter to compassionate friends who will join us in this labor of love!

MEET MICHAEL
In this candid interview, Michael is gut level honest about his marital infidelity, acting career challenges, suicidal thoughts, and the overwhelming circumstances he and his wife found themselves in. They already had children, and unplanned pregnancy felt like more than they could handle at this fragile time.
It was a struggle – Michael describes how hard it was for he and his wife to make the decision to place their baby with an adoptive family. He also emphasizes the need for counseling and putting the best interests of the baby above all. He believes adoption is the blessing that changed his life and everyone involved in the adoption.
We talk about birth mothers very frequently, but don’t talk a great deal about birth fathers, who must be considered in the adoption process. Some interesting things that the public may not understand or be aware of regarding birth fathers:
There are repeat birth fathers with different birth mothers at different times.
Have access to many adoption services, but rarely engage.
Have a significant influence over whether a birth mother follows through in her adoption plan.
Need to feel a part of the process and treated with respect.
May not have as much knowledge of how adoption works as a birth mother may.
Education can increase his cooperation and support with the birth mother.

I hope your February has been wonderful! I always think of February as the month of love…a special time to show those around me how much I love and appreciate each of them.
In February, I also pause to remember what I love about MY life…. I love that my biological mother courageously chose life for me. I love that my adoptive family opened their arms to love me and give me a life filled with joy and possibility. I love my own family – husband and children. I love that my husband and family stand with me in the journey to help pregnant women in crisis and unborn babies. And I love what I do – working hard to find birth mothers in crisis who need someone to show them all of the joy and possibility that awaits their baby through the gift of adoption. That is a LOT of love and I am so grateful.
If you are receiving this newsletter, it is because you love the joy and possibility that the gift of adoption brings. What’s so amazing is that adoption is a three-fold miracle. It is a miracle for the baby who is given a bright future. It is a gift for the adoptive family whose arms and heart now hold the precious baby they longed for. And it is the miracle of hope for a birth mother (or father, as you will see in the spotlight), whose life was in crisis and now have the support and wise counsel needed to have a fresh new start at life. I love every part of the adoption miracle!
And every time I see the sweet faces of the babies adopted through Building Arizona Families, the reality of the miracle washes over me all over again. Wow – I am so in love with where and how I am honored to serve, to make a difference in the lives of women, babies, and families around the U.S. It truly is a gift.
As you know, our goal for 2021 is to multiply the miracles!! There are so many pregnant women in crisis and that is where the miracle starts. We need to find them, to tell them that they have a wonderful option – life for their baby and a fresh start for them. Can you help us multiply miracles in 2021? Just $127.00 helps us find one birth mother, and then the miracle begins. How many miracles can you help make happen? I encourage you to choose a miracle goal, and let’s work together to get it done.
Thank you for caring so much. Thank you for walking with us – you are truly joining us in the miraculous work of adoption.
Can you sponsor one miracle? Two miracles? Perhaps you can commit to a miracle a month – wouldn’t that be awesome? Remember that your gift of any amount is tax deductible. And, please forward the newsletter to friends who care about miracles so they can join us in this miraculous work!

It can be such a busy time, but Christmas always makes me pause… and the reality hits me afresh that my mother chose to give me the most incredible gift – the opportunity to live.
It makes me more deeply understand that life is the greatest gift a mother can give a child – and a gift that every unborn baby deserves. It makes me renew my efforts to reaching as many pregnant women in crisis as possible. Every precious unborn baby should have the opportunity to live, love, and be loved, just as I have been blessed to experience life and love.
As we pause to celebrate with those we love, we experience the power of love. Take love for our children, for example. It is one of the strongest loves we will experience in this life. It’s what makes parents so fiercely protective, doing everything possible to keep their children safe from harm, and providing every opportunity to learn, grow, and become wonderful adults.
Even though I was not their biological daughter, my adoptive family gave me that kind of unconditional, safe, and deep love. Because of their selflessness, I have become someone who wants to make a difference, to help other unborn babies live and love. I’ve also experienced deep love and gratitude for my biological mother, Donna K. Evans, a scared, pregnant teenager without support. She courageously chose to go through the challenges of being pregnant in high school, and chose adoption. She wanted the stable, prosperous future for me that she was unable to provide. It’s so personal for me. As I share more of my story, I hope it helps you embrace just how powerful a gift you can share with pregnant women in crisis who feel trapped and believe their only choice is abortion.
We need to reach as many pregnant women in crisis as possible. They need to know that they can choose life for their baby. They need to know that we will help them with their housing, food, clothing, counseling, healthcare, transportation, and sometimes even a cell phone. They need to know that we make it possible for them to give their baby the greatest gift a parent can give – life! We need to raise $16,071 to double our outreach. This will allow us to reach 150 women experiencing a crisis pregnancy.
It only costs us $107.14 to reach a pregnant woman in crisis. When she chooses life for her baby, she can also change her life for the better through our Donna K. Evans Foundation aftercare program. When she chooses to place her baby for adoption, she provides a loving, stable future for her baby like I was given. And, when she chooses adoption, an adoptive family’s aching hearts and arms are filled with the precious baby who will bless everyone their little life touches.
We know you can’t put a price tag on a baby’s life! But, we know that $107.14 can help us save one baby’s life. Our December goal is 150 women choosing life for their babies. Just think – 150 babies given the opportunity to live, to breathe, laugh and love. Can you help us save one baby? Two babies? Please be as generous as you can.
As always, I am available 24/7/365 to talk with a women experiencing a crisis pregnancy. Please share my personal cell number. My cell is 623.695.4112. Women can text or call me.
Thank you for being in the struggle with us to save the lives of unborn babies.

BIRTH MOTHER ADOPTION STORIES
MEET MARY
Mary’s life was going down the drain fast. She was really struggling, and believed it wasn’t fair to bring her baby girl into the world. Mary didn’t want her baby to experience the same struggles Mary was facing. After talking to Building Arizona Families, she also became convinced that her baby deserved to live and enjoy a better life.
Now Mary tells other pregnant women struggling with crisis pregnancies that placing their babies through Building Arizona Families is the best choice. She tells them that she chose a wonderful adoptive family for her baby, and she will have the kind of future Mary couldn’t provide while in crisis. And all it took was $107.14 to reach her – and now she is telling other pregnant women in crisis about the positive option of adoption so that more babies’ lives are saved!
Just think – $107.14 might be all it takes to give a pregnant woman in crisis the gift of hope, a precious newborn baby the gift of life, and an adoptive family the gift of love.
The need is so great. Desperate women like Mary are searching right now for answers. We need to make sure they discover the help we can give so that they choose life for their unborn child. Please be as generous as you can, as there are so many women and unborn babies that need your help. Every baby’s life matters!
Some women come into Building Arizona Families because they are pregnant, and many of these women have reached a point of desperation due to situations such as:
Being homeless – scared to remain on the street due to being pregnant, and hungry and cold/hot
The pregnancy may be the result of an act of prostitution/solicitation or they may be a victim of abuse.
Feeling trapped in a domestically violent relationship and wanting to make sure that they don’t bring a baby into their turbulent world.
Pregnant as a result of an affair and they don’t want their significant other to find out (he may be incarcerated) or together they may not want to raise the baby together since the baby was conceived in an affair.
Divorcing their spouse and they do not want to raise a baby under these circumstances.
Finding out that they are pregnant and choose not to have an abortion and/or they find out too late in their pregnancy. Maybe they don’t believe in abortion or cannot afford it?
Learn more about desperation, how it manifests, and how it can impact adoption. Tune in!

There have been so many challenges this year, but in the midst of the difficulties, we stop and give thanks. As we look back, we celebrate the joyful life of every precious baby placed in the arms of a loving forever family. A baby is given a future because people like you and I care about every unborn baby’s life. We celebrate with the courageous birth mothers who made the sacrificial decision to give their babies the greatest gift – life and a bright future. We rejoice with the adoptive families whose arms ached to hold a little one, and whose hearts and homes are now full of the laughter of children. And…
We celebrate YOU, someone with the courage to take a stand for life, and the compassion to care for pregnant women in crisis. Thank you. None of this would be remotely possible without your support. We are so grateful for you.
While 2020 has been challenging for so many reasons, I’ve also witnessed miracles in the midst of the trials. I never grow weary of hearing the cry of a newborn baby who just months before, was at risk of being aborted. And while I answer the Birth Mother Hotline where women in crisis can reach out 24/7/365, I always rejoice that I am able to offer hope, help, and compassion without judgment. Hearing the tone change from desperate fear to hopeful calm reenergizes me when I am weary. There will always be the need for increasing our efforts to find women struggling with a crisis pregnancy so that every unborn baby has the gift of life. But in the midst of the struggle, we pause and give thanks for every baby, every birth mother, every adoptive family, and every courageous and compassionate person who partners with us in sharing the work of life. Thank you again. I probably can’t say it enough, but when I feel discouraged, I am strengthened by your support.
For me, Thanksgiving is especially poignant. As you know, I was adopted at birth, and I am forever grateful for the gift of life my biological mother, Donna Evans, gave me! She was just a teenager, with no support whatsoever, and her family’s shame could have been the driving force to end her pregnancy – to end my life before it truly began. I am blessed beyond measure, and I want to share the gift of life with as many women in crisis as possible so that they can experience the profound peace and joy of sacrificial love that puts the life of their baby above all else.
I also wanted to let you know that we didn’t hit our November goal of doubling our outreach to pregnant women, but we were able to increase the number of women we connected with. Thankfully, several of them have chosen the beautiful option of adoption! So, our goal for December is to hit our November goal. We need to raise $16,071 to double our outreach. This will allow us to reach 150 women experiencing a crisis pregnancy.
We can’t do this alone – we don’t have the funds.
It costs us $107.14 to personally connect with a pregnant woman in crisis.
When I look at the precious baby in the picture below it still takes my breath away. What if we never found her mother? What if her mother had not chosen to give her the gift of life?
Life is just so precious, so miraculous. You can’t put a price tag on a baby’s life! But, we know that $107.14 can help us save one baby’s life.
Our December goal is 150 women choosing life for their babies. Just think – 150 babies given the opportunity to live, to breathe, laugh and love. Can you help us save one baby? Two babies? Please be as generous as you can.

MEET DESIREE
When Desiree found out she was pregnant, she just couldn’t believe it. She had just had a baby boy, and it was a very difficult pregnancy. This time, the new baby’s dad didn’t want any part of the pregnancy. She came to Building Arizona Families for help, but then her family convinced her that it was the wrong decision, so she left the program. As she grew sicker, she realized that she couldn’t meet her son Alonzo’s needs, take care of her own health conditions, and take care of a newborn baby alone. Despite family objections, she came back to Building Arizona Families for help, recognizing that the best future for her unborn child was with someone who could take care of the baby well and provide a stable future. As painful as the decision was, she knew it was the right choice. Watch Desiree share about her courageous decision HERE.
Desiree shares that the crisis is not a joke – it’s real. Women like Desiree need to know about Building Arizona Families. It’s why we invest resources online to reach pregnant women in crisis who are searching online for help. Desiree, her son, and the adoptive family are now celebrating her courageous decision, changing tragedy into joy for so many lives! And all it took was $107.14 to reach her. But there are so many women like Desiree who need us that don’t know we can help!

THE HOLIDAYS CAN BE HARD
Holidays can be tough on people regardless of whether or nor they have an adoption plan. Sometimes both adoptive families and birth parents have a difficult time. Thanksgiving and Christmas are considered by many to be the “most wonderful time of the year,” but often it is just magnifying the trying times you may be experiencing. The holidays can magnify emotions of loss and grief. Memories of past holidays both good and bad can trigger various emotions and can be painful reminders of loss. Birth Mothers think about the “Hallmark” Christmas cards of the perfect family, perfect children and the perfect holiday. They feel alone while others are celebrating. Childhood memories flood in. Click below to learn more about the impact of the holidays.

Wow! 2020 has been so crazy! And now the elections are upon us, with so much hanging in the balance. One thing we do know – regardless of election outcomes – our commitment to protecting the lives of unborn babies and supporting courageous women who choose life for their babies remains strong.
“Elections won’t change a thing.
We are committed to life, regardless.”
But, did you know that this election can impact legislation that can prevent our taxes from paying for abortions, decrease federal funding for organizations like Planned Parenthood, and increase funding for non-profits like ours who are working to protect unborn lives? There is so much on the line.
Why is this important? The most recent Planned Parenthood annual report reveals that they performed 345,672 abortions from October 2017 to October 2018 — more than in any previous year! And financial records show they received more taxpayer dollars in the fiscal year ending last June than ever before ($617 million!), constituting 37% of its overall revenue. Their data also shows that of the 345,627 abortions, they made only one adoption referral for every 117 abortions performed. ONE referral!
The numbers are staggering, but we continue to work tirelessly to give unborn babies the opportunity to live. As you know, I was adopted at birth, and I am forever grateful for the gift of life my biological mother gave me!
I know you are committed to precious unborn babies and support women struggling through crisis pregnancies to give their baby the gift of life. I encourage you to vote. Every vote for life counts. But, regardless of election outcomes, please stand strong with Building Arizona Families as we increase our efforts to reach pregnant women in crisis and provide them the support they need to make the positive life choice of adoption.
In November, we need to DOUBLE our outreach to pregnant women in crisis. To do that, we need to raise $16,071. This will allow us to reach 150 women experiencing a crisis pregnancy. If you can do more, please do. Every life counts and the stakes are so high.
We can’t do this alone – we don’t have the funds.
It costs us $107.14 to personally connect with a pregnant woman in crisis.
The babies born in September were given the gift of life and a future as a result of our outreach. We are so grateful for every baby born! But there are so many babies never given the chance to live.
There is so much to do, and we need to do it NOW.
We need you. Unborn babies’ lives hang in the balance!
$107.14 can help us save one baby’s life.

MEET OLIVIA
When Olivia found out she was pregnant, she didn’t have anything. No money, home, car, phone, or place to turn to except an online search for solutions. Our offer to help pregnant women in crisis popped up first in her Google search. When she called, we responded right away. Olivia was picked up by staff and taken to our offices where help was offered immediately. She felt safe and genuinely cared for.
In her interview, Olivia shares about the difficult but selfless decision to place her baby boy with a loving family. She knows she now has expanded her family and will remain a part of her son’s life. Olivia talks about the support she has received after placing her son for adoption and how she has the hope and tools she needs for a positive future. Watch Olivia’s touching story HERE.
Olivia found Building Arizona Families online because we invest resources online to reach pregnant women in crisis who are searching online for help. Olivia, her son, and the adoptive family are now celebrating the gift of life, hope, and family as a result. What a beautiful outcome for what could have been a tragedy. And all it took was $107.14 to reach her. But there are so many women like Olivia who need us that don’t know we can help!

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) estimates abusers target more than 300,000 pregnant women in the U.S. each year, adding that the number may be even higher than that given the reluctance of survivors to disclose abuse, especially during pregnancy.
Published in March 2017, in BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, the results show intimate partner violence during pregnancy is “significantly associated with” preterm birth (before 38 weeks) and low birth weight, finding that women who endured abuse while pregnant were almost twice as likely to deliver their babies preterm.
The National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or 1-800-787-3224 (TTY) offers help to anyone involved in a domestic violence situation. They help victims as well as survivors, friends and family members. They also provide information on sexual assault, battering intervention and prevention programs. Please make sure to call them if you need help.

We are finally heading into fall – what a welcome relief from our scorcher of a summer! I hope you and yours are safe, healthy, and navigating all of the adjustments the COVID-19 virus has created. On top of COVID challenges, it is election season with information swirling around from all corners. In the midst of all of this, I hope we can focus on what is most important.
“THE GIFT OF LIFE CREATES THE OPPORTUNITY FOR EVERYTHING ELSE TO EXIST.”
Life is so precious. I look at the sweet baby in the photo above and what runs across my mind is… what if? What if that baby had not been given the opportunity to live, to breathe, to grow into a remarkable human being? What if all of her promise was lost because a vulnerable birth mother felt trapped and believed she had no options? With as many loving families who have aching hearts and arms waiting to hold a baby, no unborn child should perish for lack of provision.
Did you know that, according to the latest data from the CDC, in 2014 there were approximately 1 million abortions performed in the U.S.? One MILLION! That same year, only 18,000 children under two were adopted. The contrast is staggering! The primary reason women chose abortion is financial circumstance. They clearly were unaware that adoption agencies are standing by, ready to assist with free housing, healthcare, transportation, adoption services, counseling, and food. This is what keeps me up at night. We can’t lose these precious babies because a birth mother in crisis does not believe she has options! One MILLION babies!
We MUST reach these women and let them know that they CAN give their unborn child the gift of life. Last month alone we had almost 8,000 women visit our crisis pregnancy website. And we celebrated the birth of eight babies who, without intervention, could have been another digit in the horrifying statistics. While I am so grateful for these eight little lives, there is so much work to do, so many more babies who deserve to live!
We need to directly connect with women experiencing crisis pregnancies to tell them we can help, that they CAN give their unborn baby the gift of life. We can’t do this alone – we don’t have the funds. It costs us $107.14 to personally connect with a pregnant woman in crisis. When you look at the pictures of the precious babies born in August as a result of our outreach, you will realize what a small price it is to pay for the gift of life. We need you. Unborn babies’ lives hang in the balance! $107.14 can help us save one baby’s life. One MILLION aborted babies is not just a statistic. It is a horrific reality. The need is urgent. Please be as generous as you can.
As always, I am available 24/7/365 to talk with a women experiencing a crisis pregnancy. Please share my personal cell number. My cell is 623.695.4112. Women can text or call me.

MEET SHYLER
Shyler is very grateful for the support she is receiving and believes her life is changing for the better because of the loving support she is receiving at Building Arizona Families.
We are so grateful that Shyler chose life for her baby. Someday, her daughter will realize what a loving, courageous choice her birth mother made. She will be thankful for the gift of life, that her birth mother remained in her life, and that she has so many opportunities that would never have existed without the gift of life and adoption. Watch Shyler’s touching story HERE.
Shyler and her daughter’s lives are forever changed because loving people came alongside her to provide the resources and emotional support she needs. But there are so many women like Shyler who need us that don’t know we can help!
Just think – $107.14 might be all it takes to give a vulnerable baby the same miraculous gift that Shyler’s baby received.
The need is so great. We just can’t sit idly by while one MILLION babies lose their lives a year in the U.S. for the lack of knowledge and resources. Please! Help us reach these vulnerable women – they can give their unborn child the gift of life, and experience a fresh start themselves.
There are times when women in difficult life circumstances are not mentally ready to accept that they are pregnant. They deny the symptoms and ignore the consequences. When a woman waits to acknowledge that she is pregnant, she is depriving herself and her baby the necessary prenatal care required to insure health. She may even continue to participate in unhealthy behaviors that can potentially impact both mother and child’s health.
While denial may seem easier in the moment to postpone the emotions, choices and realities of a crisis pregnancy, in the long term postponing facing reality has negative consequences. This is exactly why Building Arizona Families needs to reach as many women experiencing crisis pregnancies as quickly as possible
Kelly addresses the issue of denial and its’ consequences, as well as offer solutions for pregnant women who need the positive choice of adoption in this honest podcast about denial.
Please join us in helping to change the lives of pregnant women in crisis who courageously choose to put their unborn child’s life above their own through the selfless choice of adoption. They choose life for their unborn child. Now, let’s help them have the bright future they deserve. Click below to join us in changing lives.
